I have been a Chiropractor as long as I have been practicing Yoga. In fact, I started Yoga in Chiropractic College. Yoga is the best type of exercise for everyone. The stretches “asanas” are designed to stretch the very deepest parts of the body, it encompasses all the muscles, ligaments and tendons. I see yoga as a way to strengthen your body from the inside out.
Yoga has been around for a very long time and has many forms today. I don’t even know how many type of Yoga styles, classes, forms or methods that there is.
Many studies in the past few years have shown that yoga can reduce stress and anxiety levels while promoting a sense of well being. It helps the body go from a sympathetic (fight or flight) to a Para sympathetic in just an hour. The Psychosomatic Medicine reported that women who regularly practiced yoga had lower levels of cytokine interleukin-6 in their blood (an inflammatory protein that can cause stress).
According to the American Chiropractic Association, chiropractic does in fact reduce stress-related headaches as well as many other symptoms. The Chiropractic adjustment creates postural changes. The body goes into a bad posture when stressed, which does lead to tension and headaches.
